Figures as of August 14, 2026, per President Abelardo De la Espriella and Colombia’s National Disaster Risk Management Unit (UNGRD), as reported by ABC News and El Tiempo — still rising as search and rescue continues.
What’s happening on the ground
The quake struck near San José del Palmar in Chocó at 7:34 a.m. local time, per the U.S. Embassy in Colombia, and its impact reached far beyond the epicenter. Cali, Pereira, Quibdó, Manizales, and Armenia are all reporting collapsed buildings, damaged hospitals, and homes that are no longer safe to live in. The government has declared a national disaster, and local and international rescue teams continue working through the rubble days later, with tens of thousands of families displaced.

Every Action Matters
For years, GLT’s Every Action Matters movement has shaped how the company shows up for the communities it serves across the United States, Mexico, and Colombia — built on the belief that every action, no matter its size, creates real impact.
Colombia is also a second home to many members of the GLT team, which is part of why this response carries extra weight.
Some GLT team members’ families have also been affected. CEO José De La Roche shared this with the team this week, speaking to their needs, which remain a priority right now:
“I want everyone to know this organization will not stand by. Together, we’re going to help people regain the conditions they need to live.”
— José De La Roche, CEO, GLT Logistics
GLT is organizing support for food, household essentials, and hygiene supplies for affected communities, along with a financial fund dedicated to earthquake relief. He also shared a message for everyone affected:
“We are not distant from this pain, or from what you’re going through. Together, we will get through this difficult chapter. You have our full solidarity and support — please know you are not alone.”
— José De La Roche, CEO, GLT Logistics
Recovery will take time, and every contribution, large or small, helps families rebuild. Thank you for taking the time to learn how you can help.
